How To Commission A Painting
Step 1: Contact me regarding a portrait of your pet (s) via email at Dolores@DoloresBaker.com or to begin conversing about your painting requirements. If you have received a gift certificate be sure to email me so that you will be charged the proper price rather than clicking on the links below to purchase a pet portrait.
Step 2:
Take lots of photos!! Photos must be of good quality with good detail of the pets face. Don’t use a flash as it may distort the features. Photograph your subject outside if possible in natural light. Take photos using a ¾ angle as well as facing you. Be sure to have the photo at “eye level” with the animal. Take lots of “close up” shots of your pet including head, neck and shoulders as well as some full figure shots. You can’t send me too many! Here’s an example of a photo and portrait of one of my pets, Lindsey. Getting a nice close up helps me see and feel the pet’s energy as well as express it in the painting.e are currently creating content for this section. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. How long does it take to complete a portrait?
A. It depends on how many other pieces I am working on at the time yours is ordered. Allow 3 to 4 weeks normally and more around the holidays, as pets love portraits as presents! (Their owners are also very happy to receive them too.)
Q. What size is best?
A. It’s really up to your personal preferences. Larger sizes are easier to see across large spaces and also allow more detail to be seen.
Q. Who owns the copyright of the artwork?
A. Copyright of the artwork remains with the artist.
